The Charioteer of Delphi
Delphi, Greece

The star of the Archeological Museum at Delphi is the bronze statue of a young charioteer. Erected around 500 BC it’s considered one of the finest works of antiquity. The young man’s serene face and delicate features are all the more striking due to his intact eyes (apparently a rarity for a work this old). The rest of the statue is nearly intact except for a missing arm. Originally the statue would have included a chariot as well as four horses but sadly on the hooves survived.
