Spread over such a vast area, it takes a while to get to grips with ancient Olympia. Doing photographic justice to it is tricky as well. There is plenty to see apart from the original Olympic stadium and several museums compete to explain the history of the Games and their significance over the years. Perhaps because this particular aspect of antiquity has been so co-opted by the machinery of the modern Olympiad I found it all far less compelling that I had hoped.
