Miletus Ampitheatre
Söke, Turkey

Miletus was another great city of antiquity strategically located on the coast and subject to repeated invasions before being done in by nature when the river silted up and blocked access to the sea trade.  I visited at the end of a long day of ruin hopping and the sun was starting to fade. This might explain why it took me several minutes to realize that the enormous structure I was staring at wasn’t collapsed in the middle but was in fact another ampitheatre in a perfect semi-circle.
