Bran Castle in Transylvania may be marketed as ‘Dracula’s Castle’ but there’s little or no evidence Bram Stoker knew anything about it and even the real-life Vlad Dracul may or may not have visited. It’s simply a picturesque castle in the right place in Transylvania and so the tourists are invited in for a tour. The real-life history of the place isn’t particularly memorable. My overall reaction was the unexpected realisation that ‘Dracula’s Castle’ was really rather nice and cosy. I think young Mr. Jonathan Harker might have been overdramatizing a bit. I wouldn’t mind being trapped here (notwithstanding the resident bloodsuckers, I suppose.)
